After what has been a significant week for Palermo, with the club’s ownership changing hands, coach Roberto Stellone underlined the need for his side to focus on matters on the field.

"We just need to think about what happens on the pitch," he said, adding: "Goings-on at the club are important but we need to isolate ourselves.

"Reaching Serie A is a key objective for all of us. I speak to Rino Foschi, the technical director, every day and we’re focused on the matches that are coming up.

"We have to remain focused and pick up as many points as we can in our next outings."

Following two straight league draws, the Rosanero face Padova, a team that "deserves respect", according to the coach.

"They’re going through a difficult patch of results but we have to play this match like it was the last of the season.

"We’ll need to have more shots on goal. We will play with the desire to take home three points, right from the first minute.

"With two wide forwards in the team, the guys up top need to sacrifice themselves. Tomorrow I’ll need more of a presence in the box, so I’m putting my faith in Stefano Moreo.

"Aleksandar Trajkovski and Ilija Nestorovski do not need to think about the lack of goals. Recently they’ve been running a lot more and what counts is the good of the team.

Speaking more generally about the team’s chances, Stellone added: "We’re having a very good season and we’re one of the candidates for automatic promotion. We just need to focus on our work and on training as well as we can.

"The encouragement of the crowd is very important when you’re trying to win league titles. I’m always grateful to the fans that follow us for away trips and those that support us back home."
